My Background

"Family First" is a saying I learned early in my law enforcement career as a K9 handler and today it carries a stronger meaning than ever as my family and I head into the next chapter of our lives. Happily married 27 years and enjoying every moment being a dad. That's what matters most to me!

Prior to becoming a certified coach and mentor for first responders and their families I spent almost 26 years in law enforcement with the United States Border Patrol. My family and I lived in seven different states, moved in and out of twelve different homes, and even homeschooled our child for a short period, so I could pursue my career goals. We weathered numerous details (TDYs) that kept us apart for significant lengths of time, as well as overtime, shift work, leadership and management issues, politics, and the ultimate sacrifice of losing fellow agents and officers.

At 49 years of age, I decided to retire with over two and a half decades of law enforcement experience. I started as an agent conducting daily operations and gradually pursued my career goals until I was working as an Assistant Chief at USBP Headquarters in Washington, D.C. managing the largest law enforcement canine program in the country. Throughout my journey, I have held various positions, including instructing supervisory leadership development, multiple instructor roles, counselor, program management, budget and finance, emergency preparedness operations, and administration. Each role demanded honesty, integrity, commitment, communication, confidentiality, and trust.

In every stage of my career I was involved in providing support to my peers and command staff. Whether it was participating in the honor guard, providing peer support counseling, or simply being there for fellow agents and their families, that sense of community gave me great fulfillment.

This journey has prepared me to support my fellow first responders and their families navigate their paths toward personal and professional fulfillment.

Now, as a certified professional life coach, I am committed to supporting first responders and their families strike the right balance between family and career without sacrificing their own well-being. My mission is to listen, support, and guide you in understanding and achieving your specific personal and career goals, drawing upon your individual values and beliefs while utilizing a self and family-first approach. I am dedicated to helping first responders and their families define and live “the Good Life.”
